Phoenix Art Museum presents “Mumbia Diaries”

“Mumbia Diaries”

The lives of four different people in the city of Mumbai get entwined by fate and luck: Shai—an investment banker with a penchant for photography, Arun—a lonely painter, Munna—the ‘dhobi’ who aspires to become an actor, and Yasmin—making a video in her camcorder for her brother who hasn’t been to Mumbai before. The film follows how their lives are changed by the presence of one another.

Introduction and Q&A by Professor Julie Cordell, Professor of Art History at Arizona State University, and affiliate in English, Gender Studies, the Center for Asian Research and Film and Media Studies. She teaches courses in Indian Film; race, gender and world film; and artists’ biopics, as well as Victorian culture.

All films show at Whiteman Hall, Phoenix Art Museum. Admission is FREE for Museum members, Asian Arts Council Members, and Students w/ ID. $5 Non-Member General Admission
