The Center for Asian Research, established in 1966, is Arizona State University’s home for research, teaching and other resources about Asia. We have over 80 affiliated faculty members in disciplines and professional programs across the university. CAR overseas degree programs in Asian studies as well as certificate programs, and we work with the School of International Letters and Cultures in facilitating the study of Asian languages. The Center for Asian Research and its affiliates have received Guggenheim Foundation, Freeman Foundation, US Department of Education, the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Japan Foundation, the Henry Luce Foundation, Fulbright, Blakemore, and other grants and awards. We have three councils serving distinct geographic areas (East, South, and Southeast Asia) and we organize lectures and conferences on Asia.
